Derek Major obtained a Veterinary Degree from Sydney University in 1978 and has practiced as an Equine Veterinary Surgeon and Practitioner for more than 35 years. In 1989 he co-founded Agnes Banks Equine Clinic and for 25 years was Managing Director and Principal.  Agnes Banks Equine Clinic is an equine veterinary practice in outer Sydney which has grown to a 9-10-person practice with a staff of around 25, including 3 registered specialists.
